About

Our journey, mission and leadership

Our Story

The history of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church is deeply intertwined with the growth of Henderson, Nevada. From its origins in the sun-soaked desert, Henderson transformed into an industrial hub during World War II, shaping the community that would become our vibrant parish. Though our church’s development came later than some other Episcopal congregations in Nevada, the story of St. Timothy’s is one of perseverance and faith—a journey marked by both triumphs and challenges in establishing a thriving community of worship and service.

Since opening its doors in 1946, St. Timothy’s has been a lively presence in downtown Henderson, proudly serving our community with a mission to share the love of Jesus Christ everywhere.

Our services blend traditional practices with heartfelt participation, guided by the Book of Common Prayer, as we come together each week to pray, sing, read scripture, and celebrate the Holy Eucharist.

We find inspiration in the Holy Scriptures and offer sermons that resonate with our lives today. Our commitment to community extends beyond worship; we engage in diocesan and national events, host neighborhood feeding programs, and welcome diverse community groups. Small groups also find support and fellowship here through prayer and weekday communion services. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, St. Timothy’s invites you to join us and experience what makes our community truly special. God bless you!

We nurture Faith and Grace in every interaction, offering a welcoming space for spiritual growth and meaningful service. Our commitment to Joy unites us, guiding our efforts to enrich lives, honor our diverse paths, and support one another in our shared journey of faith.

Who's Saint Timothy?

A good life with contentment is itself a great wealth.

St. Timothy was an early Christian evangelist and the first Christian bishop of Ephesus. The Apostle Paul met him during his missionary journey, and Timothy became Paul’s companion and missionary partner. Paul consecrated Timothy as the Bishop of Ephesus in the year 65, and he served 15 years. In the year 97 Timothy tried to stop a pagan procession of idols, ceremonies, and songs, but the angry pagans beat him, dragged him through the streets, and stoned him to death. In the 4th century, his relics were transferred to the Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople. His feast day is celebrated on January 26th.
